Maidens Magazine in MPLS

On November 28th, 2016, Yana of Moth Oddities joined 12 talented female photographers in showcasing film photography prints at the Maiden's Magazine gallery event at Norseman Distillery. The event celebrated collaboration between women. Women empowering women. The night of the event, all of the prints were silently auctioned off and the proceeds were donated to the non-profit MN Girls are Not For Sale, a statewide campaign of the Women's foundation of Minnesota to end sex trafficking.

It feels amazing to be surrounded by such strong, creative women in Minneapolis. Events like Maidens Magazine in MPLS are important to showcase the immense contributions that women bring to our local community. Thanks to everyone who came out to the event to support the cause and celebrate females!

Below are a few of my favorite shots from my exclusive film set for Maiden's Magazine.

Last weekend we took part in ART-A-WHIRL, the epic artist studio tour that occurs in Northeast Minneapolis every spring!

We set up shop at Studio 230 of the Q.arma Building with Nylonsaddle Photography + Acowsay Cinema. Moth Oddities was one of four pop-up shops that Nylonsaddle and the Acowsay team hosted for Art-A-Whirl. Check out this killer line-up of creatives!

A Vintage Adventure

We just wrapped up A Vintage Adventure, our welcome home pop-up event at findfurnish in collaboration with Tandem Vintage

Ian O'Neill and Yana Pietras of Moth Oddities + Brian Wilcox of FindFurnish + Amanda Baumann of Tandem Vintage

A Vintage Adventure was a social hour and shopping event that culminated our USA road trip and featured the HUNDREDS of amazing vintage items that we collected all over the country.

At the event we featured spring and summer styles for women and men, circa 1950's - 1990's, with an emphasis on items made in the USA.

All items were cleaned, steamed, and repaired as necessary to guarantee the freshest start to their new lives. We also tagged each item with its estimated circa date and the city it was found in, so buyers could learn a bit of history about their favorite picks.

We had a great time reliving the best moments of our road trip with our friends, family and the MN creative community.

April 22nd was not only the opening night of A Vintage Adventure, but also EARTH DAY! It was a blast to celebrate Earth Day and our mission to keep the planet healthy by doing our part in minimizing the amount of textiles that end up in landfills.

We also featured handmade goods by local contributing artists at the event, such as posters, paintings, greeting cards, jewelry, books, and clothing designs.

Thank you to everyone who made it out! Seeing all of your faces was seriously an indescribable feeling. You guys inspire us and your support means the world to us. Feeling all the warm fuzzies right now :) Thank you for your continued support.

Shout out to Emily Rose Photography for taking these amazing pictures of the event! Also a big THANK YOU to our assistants that night: Miranda Meier, Claire Ward & Morgan Davis. CLICK HERE to see more photos.

Thanks for reading!
